A cosy community pub with a fantastic south bank location

A house of family and fun

At The Duke of Sussex we are a reflection of the needs of our local community. Our food is simple and harks back to the days when the British Pub first came about, inspired by the Alehouses & Taverns with the open fire cooking that were used at that time. The Duke is famed for it’s charcoal spit roasted chicken which is brined and marinated for 24 hours capturing a beautiful charcoal flavour. We use the best fresh seasonal British produce we can find, through our carefully curated list of suppliers.

The Duke is warm and welcoming with an open fire, comfortable seating and a private dining room upstairs. Outside the Duke you’ll find one of the best beer gardens in Waterloo, perfect for an after work drink al fresco. The leafy garden has plenty of seating and is covered with heaters and lanterns for the winter months.

We wish you a Hippo Christmas!

Whether it’s a three course dinner with friends by an open fire, a full blown jolly knees up or even a family Christmas day drinks, we’ve got what it takes to make your Christmas sparkle!

Throughout December we will be raising money with StreetSmart for amazing local causes

The Manna Centre provides both a compassionate and practical response to London’s poor and homeless. For some it’s a place where they can dome for their only hot meal of the day. For others it’s a listening ear and welcome respite from another day living on the streets. For others still its a chance to get off the street and into accommodation. The centre is open 7 days a week and welcomes 150-200 people daily. A StreetSmart grant will help fund the cost of a new transit van which is used daily to collect donations of food, clothing and furniture.
